So much SNOW arrives, the latest on the odds

Here we are, after the Alps it will be the Apennines and the mountains of the two Major Islands. The change in weather conditions was important and will be even more so in the coming days (probably also in the coming weeks).

After the first Atlantic perturbations here comes the cold. Maritime polar air that is about to land on our regions, obviously with different effects depending on the areas involved. Let's just say one thing: the cold air will come from the northwest, so it will hit the western regions more. The Adriatic, or more generally the eastern regions, will be more protected by the Apennine ridge.

Clamorous weather change: Italy at COLD for days

This is what we can tell you with today's maps, but we are aware of the fact that the trajectory of entry of cold air masses could change at any moment. Variations that could obviously have important repercussions on the temperature trend and on the precipitation distribution.

Now let's focus on the weekend, focusing on the snow level. Let's start with Friday, when a first cold will cause a locally severe deterioration that will bring rain, storms and snowfall. In the Alps the snow level should initially be around 1400 meters but towards the end of the day it could fall locally below the 1000 meters (especially on western sectors and in border areas). Regarding the central northern Apennines, initially snow level on 1800 meters then decreasing to 1400 meters species on northern sectors. In Sardinia immediately snow altitude on 1400 meters of quota.

Saturday the precipitations should involve the two Major Islands and the South Center. The snow level will be placed on the 1400 meters along the central northern Apennines and in Sardinia, while on the southern Apennines and in the mountains of Sicily it will vary from 1600 to 1800-2000 meters.

Finally Sunday. A new, vigorous deterioration should come from the late morning, a worsening that should be destined more to the Center North and subsequently to the southern Tyrrhenian. The snow level could still fall, so much so that it could even snow in the Northwest hilly altitudes (especially on Piedmont and the Ligurian hinterland) while on the northern Apennines snow falls towards i 1000 meters. In Sardinia 1200-1300 meters, while in the central Apennines 1400 meters.
