TO Militello Rosmarinoobviously, we don't talk about anything else. The topic is the nun who became pregnant, the nun, of African origins, in service at the “SS. Bambino Gesu Collegio di Maria ”is very well known in the small town of Nebrodi, in the province of Messina.
No official statement – reported the Gazzetta del Sud on newsstands – it is registered by the religious order to which it belongs that already last week, immediately following the medical checkup in the hospital, it ordered the transfer of the nun to another location.
From the same ecclesiastical circles they let know that the woman, after having given birth, he can choose to leave the Order to devote himself to the role of full-time mother. The community of Militello Rosmarino was invested, against its will, by a great media resonance.
A situation on which the mayor Salvatore Riotta says he regrets: "There is regret for what happened. Our community of 1,200 inhabitants is baffled by the way some have treated the news, not as secretly as it should have been. The situation was poorly managed – said Riotta -. I know the nun well, who took the vows less than a year ago and has always loved everyone. The Bambin Gesu college is a very serious institution – the mayor underlines -. Over time it has always been the most positive reality in the country. In the college they also take care of poor families and children in difficulty. Also for this reason we are disappointed by what happened and how the news was managed but the good name of the institute is not in question ".
The case of Militello Rosmarino is not the only one. A a similar episode surprised the community of Ispica, in the province of Ragusa, where another nun, originally from Madagascar and responsible for a care service for the elderly, also discovered she was expecting a baby.
The woman also acted as mother superior and left the institute of which he was a guest returning to his country of origin.
However, what happened in Sicily is not the only case in Italy. In 2014, in Rieti, the news of a pregnant nun soon went around the city, with a media tamtam that forced the local hospital to set up a security service to keep away too many prying eyes.
The woman, of Salvadoran origins, gave birth to a child and decided to leave the religious order to dedicate herself body and soul to the child. A year later, in the Marche, a novice gave birth to another child. A case that brought to mind that of another nun, a 40-year-old girl of Congolese origin, who in 2011 gave birth, again in the Marche region, after denouncing that she had been raped by a priest of her compatriot. Initially the woman, who left the vows, decided not to recognize the baby, only to change her mind a little over two months later, engaging in a long legal battle. Battle ended with a sentence of the Cassation that recognized the right of rethinking, giving it back, three and a half years later, the legitimate son who was initially given in custody to a couple from Macerata.
