The sovereign and the Duke of Edinburgh were married November 20, 1947. The 13-year-old meeting, the crisis and the golden wedding undertone after the death of Lady Diana

of Paola Caruso

On November 20, 2019, the 93-year-old Queen Elizabeth II and the 98-year-old Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, reach an incredible goal: they are celebrating 72 years of marriage. A "granitic" goal for a sovereign accustomed to the primates, given that she holds the record of years on the British throne: 66 years (crowned June 2, 1953, ed), surpassing the previous record of Queen Victoria (63). The two have spent many in almost three-quarters of a century of life together, but have remained united and accomplices. The only marital crisis that has reached the ears of the press is dated 1956-1957, then no other loving gossip has involved the two Windsor spouses. The differences of the 50s, which according to the chatter of the Palazzo have repeatedly caused Her Majesty to cry, are a distant memory, now faded, which today leaves room for the celebrations of such a long-lived union. Here are some stages of this great love between the two cousins: Elizabeth and Philip.
