New Volkswagen Golf 8: the R will have 333 hp. Engine and info

The range of the Volkswagen Golf 8 will then be completed in 2020 with the arrival of the GTI variants, of the Variant bodywork (station wagon) and of the very powerful R. According to the latest information the most powerful of the House, ie the R version will be available in two variants. A bit like what happens with Mercedes A45 AMG.

The Volkswagen Golf 8 R will adopt the well-known 2.0-liter four-cylinder with turbocharger. Compared to the 300 hp of the seventh generation we will have a further increase in power. The "normal" R, according to what directly stated by an employee of the House of Wolfsburg, should provide well 319 CV. The maximum torque should rise to 410 Nm.

The benefits will be of 250 km / h self-limited electronically as maximum speed and approximately 4.5 seconds for shooting from 0 to 100. Traction will be integral combined with 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. We still have no definite information on the price, but this should be around € 49,500.

With the Volkswagen Golf 8, the German House for the first sprint will also launch a version called "R Performance". The latter, again equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo, will reach a power of 333 hp and 420 Nm of torque. Probably even the maximum speed will rise and it will be possible to optionally take it to about 270 km / h. Shooting from 0 to 100 should be done in approx 4.4 seconds.

The price of this second variant, always equipped with four-wheel drive and automatic transmission will touch altitude € 51,000 approx. The arrival of the R variant is fixed for the mid-2020. Sales will begin indicatively from next autumn. For the Volkswagen Golf 8 R Volkswagen will launch a specially designed aerodynamic package and the digital instrumentation will contain some gems like the instantaneous indicator of torque, power output and acceleration, even lateral, expressed in "g".
