Mexican boxer Canelo Alvarez became world champion in three different weight categories

Mexican boxer Canelo Alvarez defeated Russian Sergey Kovalev in a fight for the world heavyweight title, which he fought last night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Alvarez has thus become world champion in three different weight categories: medium, supermedium and medium weight. Alvarez is 29 years old, was born in Guadalajara and is nicknamed Canelo for red hair. Of the 56 matches played in his career, he won 53, drew two and lost only one, in 2013 against the American Floyd Mayweather, the strongest middleweight in recent boxing history.
