Mercedes leave? Not even Hamilton treats the renewal of 2 years

A confirmation came from Lewis Hamilton, who now no longer makes any mystery of aiming for the fourth contract with Mercedes, which will lead him to complete a decade with the team that so far has allowed him to win five World titles.

The current contract will expire at the end of next season, but obviously the negotiations begin well in advance, and then arrive at the signature in the late spring of the following season.

"I considered the possibility of running another two years – explained Lewis – I want to continue doing what I love, and that's what I'm doing, I don't see any reason to stop. It seems to me that little time has passed since the signing of the last contract and I already have to think about the next one, and in some respects it is a stressful commitment because in the end, though it is always a very friendly confrontation, it is a bit like getting on a ring . But I'm used to it, and I like to think I'm a pretty good negotiator. "

Hamilton treats the contractual conditions personally, without the support of a manager, and also participates in the final draft of the contract. It is not to be excluded that in the next agreement Lewis wants to review some commitments, especially in terms of the days dedicated to public relations:
"It is not rare that after signing a contract you find yourself thinking about what you could have done better, focusing on better foresight, but these are assessments that then help you in the next contract."

There is another aspect that for Hamilton is of fundamental importance in prolonging his stay in Mercedes, and is the figure of Toto Wolff.

His relationship with the Austrian team principal is crucial in the team's economy, and Lewis does not want to risk finding himself in ‘his team without the closest contact person ever, especially after the death of Niki Lauda.

"For my part, I would like all those who work with me to remain in their respective roles – explained Lewis – but I know that being stuck in a position for too long may end up not being a positive choice for a career."
