There will be a 100% electric G-Class
The Mercedes G-Class will in fact also be built in a version 100% electric. These are not rumors and indiscretions, but a real confirmation that comes from the CEO of Daimler, Ola Kallenius, cited in the recent tweet below, by the digital transformation manager of the German manufacturer, Sascha Pallenberg.

The electric variant of the iconic star-shaped off-road vehicle will be part of the Mercedes EQ range that includes the new battery models of the German brand. Kallenius has already confirmed a massive investment of 10 billion euros on the EQ range, stating: "By 2022 we will be introducing more than ten fully electric vehicles to the market".
The "modified" electric Class G from Schwarzenegger
Although not an official Mercedes product, there is already a 100% electric G-Class, the result of a conversion carried out by the Austrian company Kreisel Electric. The fact that this car is owned by the actor and former governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, who took it over almost three years ago brings fame to the car. On this G-Class a 490 hp electric motor was installed, powered by an 80 kWh battery pack that supports rapid 150 kW recharging and guarantees a range of over 300 kilometers. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 5.6 seconds and reaches 183 km / h top speed.
The turnaround on the elimination of the model
Regarding the future and prospects of an icon of Mercedes production like the G-Class, the three-pointed Star brand is back on its feet after having feared the possibility of completely erasing the model.
