The treasurer of the League, Giulio Centemero, risks now the process for illicit financing together with the ex-treasurer of the Democratic Party Francesco Bonifazi. And for the first, in addition to the well-known investigation by the prosecutor's office in Rome, there is also another file for the same crime: 40 thousand euros from Esselunga.

In fact, the investigation by the Rome deputy prosecutor Paolo Ielo has just closed, regarding the financing of the policy of the constructor Luca Parnasi. The investigative strand has been going on for more than a year and has two key points, precisely, the treasurer of the League Giulio Centemero and the ex-treasurer of the Democratic Party Francesco Bonifazi.

The role of Centemero

Centemero is accused of having taken 250 thousand euros over the accounts of the «Piu voci» association, of which he is the legal representative. The association, according to the provision notified to the defenders, is however directly ascribable to the League "as its emanation or in any case its articulation". Together with Centemero and for the same crimes, Andrea Manzoni, the current auditor of the Senate group, is also being investigated.

According to the story of Luca Parnasi, entrusted to magistrates last year, the funding was destined for the Padana broadcaster, Radio Padania. However, the arrival of the loan has never been registered. Despite the irregularities disputed by the prosecution, Centemero has always defined the transaction as perfectly regular.

Bonifazi and false advice

Parnasi would also have given illicit financing to Francesco Bonifazi, on behalf of the Democratic Party. Bonifazi as well as illegal financing is accused of false invoices. The financing is "camouflaged through the payment by Pentapigna real estate of a consulting on the house, carried out by the Eyu foundation". The donation amounted to 150 thousand euros through 2 bonophiles of 100 thousand euros respectively, on March 1, 2018 and 50 thousand on March 5, 2018.

The closing of the file is the penultimate act with respect to any request for trial. And other troubles also come from Milan: even the Milanese prosecutors have closed a dossier about illegal financing: when the founder of Esselunga Capriotti was still alive he would have given 40 thousand euros to the League, without putting them on the balance sheet.
