After a 15-hour flight, departing from the South American country and making a stop in Canada, the young patient, who after his injury could no longer move his legs, together with his family and accompanied by the doctor of the Resuscitation of Major Liliana Copertino, landed during the night at Marconi Airport to continue treatment in the healthcare facility chosen by the parents.
"We had no direct knowledge of the family – explained De Iure during a press conference – but the Major is one of the centers in Italy that deals with the greatest number of spinal injuries ".
"Every year – added Carlo Coniglio, manager of intensive care, where the 12-year-old is now hospitalized – we treat 200-250 vertebral fractures and assist 30-35 patients with spinal injuries. The case concerning this boy, the injury caused by a trigone is more unique than rare. It will remain in the history of injuries and will also be studied ».
Through the spokesman Paolo Colombo, the family of the very young patient thanked the Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and the Farnesina for making the humanitarian flight available. "After the convalescence in the hospital in Costa Rica – concluded Copertino – the trip has tired the boy very much, we have assisted him at all times. He is a child who has grown quickly and is facing an intense trial with a lot of energy and courage ».
