The story dates back to the period between March and October 2015, when the priest had published on his blog and on the social posts considered defamatory towards the leader of the League
On October 23rd Salvini, assisted by the lawyer Chiara Eccher, presented himself in court in Lecco and answered the questions of the prosecutor Paolo Del Grosso and the lawyers Emiliano Tamburini and Marco Rigamonti, the priest's lawyers. In today's hearing, instead, the key witness was heard, Luca Morisi, responsible for the communication of the leader of the Carroccio, and Don Giorgio himself.
The prosecutor has asked for the sentence to a fine of 10 thousand euros, while the defense has called for the acquittal "because the fact does not constitute a crime". The single judge sentenced the priest to pay 7,500 euros, in addition to compensation for 7,000 euros.
