In 1928 Enzo Tortora was born: let's see him again at "Superclassifica Show" in 1982

Enzo Claudio Marcello Tortora was born in Genoa on 30 November 1928. After graduating from classical high school, he traveled to Italy as a percussionist of the orchestra of Totò Ruta, graduated from the University of Genoa and collaborated on the first performances of Paolo Villaggio.

Join RAI at the age of 23 and made his video debut in 1956 as a valet by Silvana Pampanini in the "First applause" program: in general, the 50s are generally those of the first successes as conductor, from "Telematch" to "Campanile sera" up to "Voices and faces of fortune "but to him it is recognized above all the merit to have reinvented the format of "La Domenica Sportiva" is inaugurated the Italian edition of "Giochi senza frontiere" in 1965.

In 1969 he was fired by Rai for some of his statements against the company, however his return in 1977 also marks the greatest success: "Portobello" (broadcast from 1977 to 1983) is a cult program of the time, a forerunner of the "tv truth" of the following years.

Just 1983, however, is also the year that marks his involvement in a case of malagiustizia: at the peak of popularity, while in Rome to record the program "Italia Parla" which he conducts with Pippo Baudo, Enzo Tortora is arrested at four in the morning at the Plaza hotel.

Handcuffed and treated like a criminal, he is accused of serious crimes: Camorra association and drug trafficking. Professed immediately innocent and foreign to the facts, he is tried and seven months in prison. Sentenced to ten years, he finally obtains from the Court of Cassation full absolution on June 13, 1987. After his return to television, dies May 18, 1988 at his home in Milan due to lung cancer.

Today we remember him during his participation in the program "Superclassification Show" in 1982 to talk about Pinocchio and lies: "Whoever never tells lies – he says – and whoever says he never tells lies has already told a lie.
