The local Democratic Party in a statement denounces: "The reason is that according to the mayor, the senator for life has nothing to do with the history of our city"
The mayor, underlines the Pd, added that "giving her citizenship would be demeaning for her because it is a political instrumentalization"; Di Stefano, however, announced his intention of inviting the life senator to the city on January 27, on the occasion of the Memorial Day.
"At this point – however the ironic Democratic Party says – we almost say: 'Senator, should they invite you, forget it. Mayor Roberto Di Stefano says that here you are a stranger".
