Certainly, at the moment, there is only the method that the majority forces intend to follow: a mediation that leads to a shared position, without leaks forward, let alone tears.

It would be deleterious, it is observed, if the majority were to split on the electoral law, several members of the political forces who support the executive agree, especially in a delicate moment where the government is caught between maneuver and ex Ilva. The starting point is a proportional system but with strong corrective measures (between the assumptions in the field the threshold of 5% or a national double shift with possible appearance). The road, however, will be long, it is the forecast made by most.

And while the majority is preparing to open the second chapter of the agreed reforms, Giancarlo Giorgetti's proposal to create a common table on reforms, a sort of Constituent Assembly, arrives to rewrite the rules of the game all together. A proposal that appeals to the mayor of Milan, Beppe Sala, and is immediately accepted by Matteo Renzi, ready to sit at the table. The words of the former Northern League undersecretary, however, leave the government cold and, above all, the 5 stars, as well as the majority of the Democratic Party, even if there are those who are open to dialogue. "I will be happy to hear Giorgetti's proposals," observes the pentastelled minister Federico d'Inca, but "what the country needs today is stability" and only the current executive, with the reforms put in place and to be put in the field, he will be able to guarantee it, it is conviction.

Giorgetti, in illustrating the proposal ("Italy's interest is that this government does not go ahead, we agree to change the 4-5 necessary things, maybe even the electoral law to give the possibility to those who govern to decide ") immediately states that he did not share the idea with his leader:" I simply say, not authorized by Matteo Salvini, that at this moment I would talk to the other parties, saying: 'sorry, but let's sit down at a table to change the game and to give a decent government to this country '". A hypothesis that, underline Lega Nordic sources, does not necessarily conflict with the party line, which is that of early elections. Although, as the referendum proposal shows, a reflection on the electoral system is underway, with a preference for the majority.

On the point Giorgetti himself is categorical: "If a proportional electoral law is made, this country is doomed". For the mayor of Milan "our country deserves a season of reforms: without radical reforms it is not going anywhere". So, "I believe that Giorgetti's proposal can make sense," says Sala. Cautious silence and caution in the dem home, despite the Senate leader, Andrea Marcucci, raises: "In the meantime I would like to propose to Giorgetti to start discussing electoral law. The Democratic Party has always maintained that the greater the sharing on the electoral system, the better. As far as I'm concerned, approving a text with the Lega competition would be a good thing ". Certainly, no one at the Nazarene would back down before a broad confrontation, especially on the voting system, it is explained, but the Giorgetti proposal at the moment does not take root.
