The 2019 European Curling Championships began in Helsingborg (Sweden), while women's Italy is included in the Serie B of the continental review after the relegation matured twelve months ago and pursues the promotion in the highest category reserved for the first two formations classified in the cadet. Our quartet stores the first day with two victories in as many matches.
In the morning Veronica Zappone, Stefania Constantini, Angela Romei and Giulia Lacedelli swept Spain with a bombastic 11-4. The Italians immediately started very strong, scoring two points in the first and third ends (4-1), then they replicated in the fifth and in the next one they stole the hand, taking on the 8-2 after six ends. Our quartet knows no limits, it dominates the eighth part, bringing three stones into the heart of the house and closes the dispute well in advance.
In the evening session, however, our national team defeated Belarus 6-4. The Italians scored two points in the first two ends and then stole three consecutive hands between the sixth and eighth fractions, taking 6-2 before a timid reaction from the opponents but that did not change the outcome of the contest.
