Fabiola Gianotti reconfirmed at the head of Cern

Fabiola Gianotti has been reconfirmed as general director of CERN in Geneva, one of the most important physics laboratories in the world. CERN announces it in a tweet. It is the first time of a reconfirmation, not foreseen so far in the Cern statute.

Born in Rome 59 years ago, Gianotti studied in Milan and was among the protagonists of the discovery of the Higgs boson, the particle that gives mass to everything that surrounds us, including human beings. A discovery awarded with the Nobel Prize for Physics in 2013 to physicists Peter Higgs is Francois Englert.
