Lewis Hamilton he won his sixth world title in Formula 1. The Mercedes driver took 2nd place in the United States GP to graduate arithmetically from champion and approach – 1 from Michael Schumacher's absolute record. In Austin the victory went to the other Mercedes of Bottas, with the Red Bull of Verstappen to complete the podium. Bad day for Ferrari: 4th Leclerc, retreat for an unlucky one Vettel.

The countdown had begun some time ago and at the Circuit of the Americas it finally stopped. Hamilton is world champion for the sixth time in his career, the third consecutive. A title arrived at the end of theyet another season of domination for Mercedes, in which the champion of Stevenage took home 10 victories and 4 pole positions, out of a total of 14 and 9 for the team. The discordant note, for a perfectionist like the British, is that once again failed to celebrate with a win in the decisive race, as it had also happened in 2017 and 2018. Not bad for Lewis, who already in 2020 will be able to focus on that seventh title that would lead him to equal the myth of Schumi.

There has been glory for Bottas on Austin Sunday: the Finn was the author of a flawless start from pole and the two-stop strategy (against the single one of his partner) eventually rewarded him. He had to settle for third place instead Verstappen, who in the final failed to slip Hamilton despite the difference in pace, also due to a yellow flag in the second sector that did not allow him to attack.

A totally forgettable Sunday for Ferrari: Vettel he was the author of a disastrous start, due to some obvious technical problem with his SF90. He found himself 7th after a couple of laps and was then forced to retire due to an incredible failure of the right rear suspension on his car; Leclerc he instead closed 4th, his starting position, with the "sop" of the fast lap, without never giving the impression of being able to keep the rhythm of the three in front. Yet another proof of how, both in terms of reliability and in terms of pace, Ferrari still has one clear gap to be filled towards Mercedes.

Behind Leclerc has closed the other Red Bull of Albon, followed by the Renault of a super Ricciardo. In seventh and eighth place the McLarens of Norris and Sainz, confirming the role of "best of the rest" for the British team. To close the top 10 Hulkenberg with the other Renault e Kvyat with Toro Rosso.
