Tonight Yorgen Fenech, the businessman arrested on Wednesday after being accused of being the instigator of the murder of Maltese journalist Daphne Caruana Galicia, was released on bail. The judge, in disposing it, contextually imposed that the man is subjected to measures of strict surveillance by the police, until the investigations continue.Fenech's bail was released just a few hours after Maltese Prime Minister Joseph Muscat declared that the grace granted to the murder broker, Melvin Theuma, the same one who accuses Fenech of being the instigator, was still sub iudice because the man "has not yet said everything".
The bailer's liberty of the businessman makes the political showdown begun in the last hours on the island even more tense, where not later than Wednesday evening the seat of the government was surrounded by a human chain of thousands of Maltese who they demanded the resignation of the prime minister and those of the two men of his staff accused of having received bribes from Fenech: the head of cabinet Keith Schembri and the minister Konrad Mizzi.
