Massimo Melis, 29 years old from Cagliari, was riding his motorcycle, a Honda 650, when he collided with a Nissan Qashqai. For the young man there was nothing to do: he died immediately after the impact with the asphalt following his serious injuries. The relief effort and the arrival of the ambulance of 118 were of no use.
The dramatic accident took place in Viale Marconi, around 1.30 this night, immediately after the traffic lights in Via Sarpi, near the Tamoil petrol station.
The driver of the Nissan, a 61-year-old resident in the hinterland, initially moved away from the scene of the accident and then found himself by the carabinieri.
His position is still under consideration. An attempt is made to establish the exact dynamics of the fearful confrontation.
The local police are also on site.
