Bad weather, whirlwind in the Materano, closed schools

An air horn hit the Metapontino, the Ionian area of ​​Lucania, in the province of Matera last night: about fifty firefighters' interventions were necessary due to the fall of trees and poles of public lighting. Furthermore, the bad weather – which yesterday had led to the closure of schools arranged by mayors in various municipalities, including Matera, where it has been raining for several hours – caused damage to some roofs. The major problems are reported between Policoro, Scanzano Jonico and Montalbano (Matera).
According to what was learned from the Fire Brigade, heavy rain caused a landslide on the provincial road 3, near Ferrandina (Matera). So far the situation of rivers and streams is under control.
