Bad weather Arno level Florence alarm threshold

Aleandro Biagianti / AGF

The full Arno in 2014

The Arno level in Florence has risen two meters in the last six hours and has passed the first level of alert. According to data reported at 6.45 am by the Functional Center of the Tuscany Region, the river at the Uffizi had reached 4.13 meters with a growth of 35 centimeters in the last hour due to the abundant rainfalls that fell all over the river basin.

The Civil Protection of the metropolitan city of Florence invites citizens to "not stand near banks and banks" of the Arno. The bad weather alert is orange and the Civil Protection recommends "traveling only if strictly necessary".
