Italian Antitrust Post Office: the Authority has launched an investigation "to ascertain an alleged improper commercial practice, implemented as part of the mail delivery service and, in particular, registered mail". The Authority communicates this by specifying that «the hypothesis is that the customer / sender who decides to contact Poste to send a registered letter may be misleadingly induced to purchase a service advertised by claims that emphasize certain characteristics which, in its actual disbursement not then they are respected ».

"Moreover, as regards the attempt to deliver the correspondence, the Guarantor emphasizes," the notice of stock of the recommended envelope would often be deposited in the recipient's mailbox without prior verification of the presence or otherwise of the same at home. Thus forcing the recipient who wants to get the envelope to carry out alternative procedures provided by the Post Office, with a postponement of delivery times and a waste of time and energy that would not be necessary if the delivery attempt were actually carried out ». According to the Antitrust Authority, Poste would also convey "misleading messages regarding the digital collection service, that is to say the advanced version of the physical delivery, of the registered letters, with reference to the relative economic and use conditions". Today, the Authority's officials carried out inspections in the company's offices, with the help of the Special Antitrust Unit of the Guardia di Finanza.
