Al Bano breaks the silence on Ylenia. And Romina remembers her daughter on Instagram

6 November 2019 – Al Bano talk again about Ylenia, the first born who died in January 1994 in New Orleans and never found again.

The Cellino San Marco singer spoke of his pain in a long interview with the weekly Today. Al Bano remembers those heartbreaking moments 25 years ago and focuses on Romina Power who does not have never accepted the idea that Ylenia is dead and in these days he has posted several messages about his missing daughter on his Instagram profile. This is what the singer says:

When you lose a daughter in that way, indeed in any other way it happens, you wonder "why just me who am a believer, who am a Christian?" In those moments of mental madness you cannot avoid those thoughts because they are the ones who attack you.

The disappearance of Ylenia it upset him and removed him from the faith and from God. It was, says Al Bano, the darkest period of his life:

Then, suddenly, I realized that I was sick twice: first because I felt against God, the other because I had lost my daughter. Still when I talk about it there is something inside me that is in turmoil. The nice thing is when I apologized to the Lord when I apologized to God for my reaction. I really had a bad time. Then faith, along with music, saved me from this profound darkness.

Al Bano, who has declared himself a man of peace, tells a today also of the touching meeting with Padre Pio from which he confessed. Remember the scent of lavender which surrounded the Saint and which later discovered its meaning:

I made confession and communion with Padre Pio and I still remember the scent that surrounded him and enveloped him, a special perfume. I smelled lavender, and years later, reading what they wrote about the saint, I discovered that it gave off a different scent for every person he confessed. And every perfume had a meaning: lavender meant harmony. But I repeat, I only read this after so many years. There and then that day I was just stunned by that very strong scent. I have only one regret: not having met him again.

Cellino San Marco's master also speaks of his relationship with Pope John Paul II is Mother Teresa of Calcutta and explains that he built two churches in his Apulian estate:

One is where a spring is born that brings water to the artificial lake I built, the lake with six islands, one for each of my children. The second is always open: I named the little square in front of Don Luigi Verze.

While Al Bano confessed his interview pain for Ylenia, Romina Power keeps it alive his memory for her daughter by sharing photos of the girl on her Instagram profile. In one click Romina the smiling embrace and comments: "The complicity we had was unique". In other photos he writes: "Ylenia always felt beautiful in the sun". And then the harrowing question: "My Ylenia where are you?"

November it's a difficult time for Romina, as she herself explains, because she is the month in which she was born Ylenia (November 29, 1970). Power emphasizes "Never having lost hope of embracing it again". He goes on to launch an appeal: "I know he knows then it has changed a lot, but if someone recognizes a woman who looks like this girl, please contact me". When he disappeared, Ylenia was 23, on November 29th he would do 50.
