The hunt for the boss Matteo Messina Denaro also passes from Sciacca and among the many supporters on which he could count there would also have been the parliamentary collaborator Antonello Nicosia, 48 years of Sciacca, stopped this night along with four other people from the police of the Ros and the Financiers del Gico under the "Passepartout" operation. The accusation is a mafia-style criminal association.

Antonello Nicosia is the volcanic parliamentary collaborator of the deputy of Italy Viva Pina Occhionero (who has not been investigated) but – according to the investigations – also a man very close to the boss Accursio Dimino, 61, considered the new head of the Sciacca mafia family after the historic leader Salvatore Di Gangi was sentenced to 17 years in Mountain's inquiry.

Operation Passepartout, the shock interceptions: "Falcone died in an accident at work"

Five in all the stops: Accursio Dimino, 61 years of Sciacca; Antonello Nicosia, 48 years of Sciacca; Paolo Ciaccio, 33 years of Sciacca; Luigi Ciaccio, 33 years of Sciacca; Massimiliano Mandracchia, 46 years of Sciacca.

Dimino returned to freedom three years ago after serving a sentence of 9 years and 4 months for the mafia imposed on him in 2008 following the "Scacco Matto" operation. Then, silently, he was back in fashion, obviously waiting for his moment. The investigators place it very, very close to the primrose of Castelvetrano Matteo Messina Denaro with which in 1996 he started a thick network of pizzini.

But back to the parliamentary collaborator Nicosia. According to the investigators of the DDA Nicosia, he would have had a double face: on the one hand, appreciated collaborator, director of the International Observatory of Human Rights and a member of the National Committee of Italian Radicals; on the other he would have made himself available to the clan to convey messages to the outside after having visited (just as a parliamentary collaborator) several penitentiaries in Sicily.

Chilling the interceptions that come out of the operation called "Passepartout": the parliamentary collaborator Nicosia insults the judge Giovanni Falcone defining his murder "an accident at work" while Matteo Messina Denaro indicated him with the title of "prime minister".

SURVEY. Since his release, the relationships maintained by Dimino with mafia subjects operating in the territory of Sciacca, Castellammare del Golfo and with some characters considered contiguous to the family Gambino mafia from New York.

With reference to this last articulation of Cosa Nostra, In particular, Dimino related to a subject with whom he had planned a criminal activity that was not subsequently completed due to the sudden murder – which took place in New York on March 13 – by Frank Calì (aka FrankieBoy), a leading exponent of the aforementioned Italian-American mafia family, an event that was immediately communicated in Sicily by the United States.

Among the disputed facts in Dimino in the provision issued by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of the Public Prosecutor's Office in Palermo there are pressures on local entrepreneurs to allow companies associated with their associates to obtain contracts, the activity of credit recovery for the benefit of subjects linked to honour men, intentions of damage and other criminal activities towards different subjects for extortion purposes.

Some interviews picked up during the investigations would also reveal how the DIMINO represented, in the past, the hardest wing of the family belonging, being part of the c.d. "triumvirate”, The historic firing group operating in the 1990s Sciacca.

As part of the investigations, the figure of Nicosia Antonino emerged Antonello, a leading exponent of the Italian Radicals, also a recipient of the detention order as considered organic to the family mafiosa saccense, already known as, among other things, definitively sentenced to 10 years and 6 months imprisonment for participation in an association aimed at drug trafficking, released for over 10 years.

The investigative investigations carried out on Nicosia have allowed to document:

  • the full inclusion of Nicosia in the saccense mafia, which also emerged from the conversations between the suspect and theman of honor Dimino Accursio;
  • the request aimed at the consummation of cruel criminal events in damage to one's debtor addressed by Nicosia to a subject gravitating in the saccense mafia that promptly welcomed it, limiting itself to deciding on the modalities and times for its implementation;
  • a private meeting held in February 2019 in Porto Empedocle between Nicosia and two affected for participation in a mafia association, including a trusted companion of the fugitive Messina Denaro Matteo, during which the three dealt with some topics of significant investigative interest, calling into question directly the aforementioned fugitive to whom a sum of money was to be destined that the interlocutors were doing their utmost to recover;
  • the instrumental use of the relationship established by Nicosia with a Member of the Italian Republic, a relationship that was used for a period of time by the suspect to gain access to various prisons within the national territory and to have contacts with other inmates of Cosa Nostra;
  • the commitment lavished by Nicosia for the realization of a not better defined project that, concerning the prison sector, was directly interested in the fugitive Messina Denaro Matteo from whom the suspect, for the work carried out, expected to receive a huge financing not considering sufficient the thanks he claimed to have received from the same wanted.

The investigative activities carried out in relation to Nicosia have therefore allowed the acquisition of elements concerning the latter's substantial affiliation to the saccense mafia organization and its proximity to the homologated castelvetranese reality, these partnerships in favor of which Nicosia has provided a significant contribution also taking advantage of its pseudo-institutional position and the connected qualified relational circuit.

Nicosia, also spending international teaching qualifications, as well as belonging to the National Committee of the Italian Radicals and director of the Onlus International Observatory of Human Rights (OIDU), worked in the welfare sector of the prison sector, accessing some institutes of detention and maintaining relations with prison workers.

In this context Nicosia:

  • he actively worked to favor some detainees returning to the circuit of the fugitive Messina Denaro Matteo, including Guttadauro Filippo (the fugitive's brother-in-law, currently interned in a security measure – a home at the Tolmezzo District Prison and still under the detention regime pursuant to art 41 bis OP);
  • in the first episode of his television and web program "Half an hour of air”, Titled Security measures – the Tolmezzo case and transmitted by a local broadcaster, interviewed a lawyer with whom he paused to quibble about an allegedly unconstitutional nature of the procedure for applying security measures (so-called "phenomenon")white life sentences") With particular regard to boarding schools subjected to Article 41 bis O.P. of the Prison District of Tolmezzo (where the named Guttadauro Filippo is restricted in this regime);
  • taking advantage of the possibility he had of accessing inside the prisons, he proposed to convey messages between free subjects (in various capacities contiguous to the Sicilian mafia context) and prisoners already convicted definitively for participation in a mafia association.

As mentioned above, the activities carried out by the suspect who dealt with the prison sector were made possible, among other things, by the fraudulent use by Nicosia of the collaboration relationship that he had established with a Member of the Italian Republic.

By virtue of this relationship, in fact, Nicosia has participated in some parliamentary prison inspections and has certainly made access inside the prisons of Sciacca (AG), Agrigento, Trapani and Tolmezzo (UD) without the prior authorization of the Department of Penitentiary Administration and this by exploiting the prerogatives recognized by the rules on the prison organization to members of Parliament and those accompanying them.
