Nunziata's Italy is vice-champion of Europe in charge and begins his run at the Under-17 World Cup in Brasilia against the Solomon Islands, less formidable opponent of the round completed by Mexico and Paraguay. But at the beginning they seem to be partly surprised by the attitude with which their opponents impact the race, especially with the number 10 Leai, fast and with good technique. After about twenty minutes, however, Italy began to weigh its superiority: Pirola took the crossbar from the corner, on 23 minutes then Gnonto, holder because Esposito remained at Inter with Antonio Conte, unblocking it diagonally. Cudrig doubles at 29 'with an empty net and Gnonto again on 34' re-enters the area on the right, kicks hard and makes no mistake.
The difference between the two teams remains evident also in the second half, Italy hits two other woods with Brentan and Tongya before starting to commit too many technical errors and getting caught up with a bit of selfishness on the many occasions it creates. At 75 'the blue poker arrives, yet another descent to the left of Ruggeri and ball in the middle for Tongya who controls well and slips with the right under the crossbar, then Capone is only put in front of the goalkeeper at 81' and stabs him between his legs for the final 5-0.
