Two hundred thousand people. Women and men who represent "the people against the elites, the palace closed in Chigi and in the Leopoldina, in the Rousseau parlor". Matteo Salvini summoned his constituents and representatives of the entire center-right, filling Piazza San Giovanni, once a symbol of the left, and promising to return to power. Patience will be needed, but "calm is the virtue of the strong – says the leader of the Carroccio – we need this period to study, to meet, to reason".

On stage there are also Silvio Berlusconi of Forza Italia and Giorgia Meloni of Fratelli d’Italia. We talk about teams several times. Berlusconi speaks of "Nazionale della Liberta". The same former Minister of the Interior now stresses that we win together. Perhaps October 19th will be remembered as a symbolic moment that has re-united the center-right, a coalition that could win many of the upcoming regional competitions, starting from Umbria, which will go to the polls next Sunday. The square, or at least a part of it, disputes the journalist Gad Lerner, who has become the symbol of left-wing opponents. But then, much more vehemently, the protesters send a resounding vape to Beppe Grillo, jeered by Meloni together with the mayor of Rome, Virginia Raggi. Salvini joins the first citizen to the governor of Lazio (and secretary dem) Nicola Zingaretti: he calls them a disastrous duo, Gianni and Pinotto, warming up the engines for a permanent electoral campaign without discounts. The yellow-red executive, with its plans for the next maneuver, is criticized for thumping tambour, branded as "government of taxes" or "government of handcuffs" by Silvio Berlusconi. The Cav, in particular, remembers having demonstrated in Piazza San Giovanni in 2006 to allow the Prodi government to pay, which then happened. Now, the former prime minister presses, it is time to send "the eviction notice to the government of the 5 lefts".

On the stage there are the governors of the center-right, including the Ligurian governor Giovanni Toti, who escaped from Forza Italia. The colleague from Veneto, Luca Zaia, argues when he says that the law enforcement should "remove the etiquette and return the baton". The controversy also continues due to the presence of several representatives of the right-wing extremists of CasaPound: many of them arrive in San Giovanni from the nearby building occupied near the Termini station. But Salvini, after a long identity, sovereign and antigovernment intervention, followed by quotations from Oriana Fallaci, Voltaire, Don Gnocchi, points out that there have been no major accidents: «With us in the square – he says – the policemen are smiling, they are our brothers ».

At the end of the event, while the sunset cools down the protesters, part 'At dawn I will win', the Captain's new anthem. The center-right team, in fact, seems to be regrouped. The night before the victory, however, still seems long. mbb
