Tom Van Asbroeck (Israel Cycling Academy) won Tuesday the 32nd edition of Binche-Chimay-Binche "Memorial Frank Vandenbroucke" (1.1), the last cycling race of the season in Wallonia Tuesday on the Grand Place Binche.

The Aalst was victorious after 198 km of racing, beating Oliver Naesen (AG2R La Mondiale) in a sprint. The Dutchman Jos van Emden (Jumbo-Visma) took 3rd place.

Tom Van Asbroeck, 29, won his fourth career win in Binche, the first this season. He succeeds Dutchman Danny Van Poppel on the list of the Walloon semi-classic, who salutes the tenth anniversary of the tragic death of Frank Vandenbroucke.

Frank Vandenbroucke remains the last Walloon winner of the Binchoise race, with his success in 1996 when the event was still taking place in Binche-Tournai-Binche format.

After a 13-year hiatus, the race hennuyère made its return in the international calendar on October 5, 2010 under the name of Binche-Tournai-Binche-Memorial Frank Vandenbroucke.

Its format evolved into Binche-Chimay-Binche in 2014. Only one Belgian rider had won before this Tuesday since the restart of the race, Jasper De Buyst in 2017. The 2018 edition saw the victory of the Dutchman Danny van Poppel in front of Yves Lampaert and Oliver Naesen.
