Monday, October 7, 2019, Unilever, the giant agribusiness and cosmetics announced to halve the use of packaging by 2025.

Using recycled plastic and putting an end to the automation of the use of individual packaging products, this is the new promise of Unilever: "By 2025, Unilever will guarantee a halving of its plastic packaging and will collect and process more plastic packaging than it markets. "said the Anglo-Dutch group in a statement released Monday (October 7th).

A significant ecological ambition since the giant of food and cosmetics has more than 400 brands (including Knorr, Lipton, Magnum or Dove) and estimates its plastic footprint at 700,000 tons per year. Whether greenwashing or a genuine interest in the climate emergency, the Unilerver Group is not the only one making decisions to act in favor of the environment. In May 2019, Nestlé, owner of 2,000 brands (including Nesquik, Häagen-Dazs, Perrier and San Pellegrino), committed to make 100% of its packaging recyclable or reusable and to increase by 35% the share of recycled material in its plastic bottles by 2025.
