The official route of the Grande Boucle was unveiled this Tuesday afternoon, in Paris. And he confirmed the intuitions of France Bleu Isere! The tour will spend three days in Isere: a first day of rest on July 13, in Grenoble, then a 100% iseroise stage and a departure of Grenoble for Savoy for this third stage iseroise.
Then, the riders will resume cycling for the 16th stage on Tuesday, July 14th: 164 kilometers between the Tour-du-Pin, in the North Isere, and Villard-de-Lans, in the Vercors.
A trap ?
This step is 100% isterised "looks like a trap" in the words of Christian Prudhomme, this Tuesday, during the official presentation. In the Chartreuse, one of the first passes crossed by the Tour, in 1907, the Doorwaythen, the runners will dive towards Grenoble with a vertiginous descent, then the coast of Revel, followed by the Vercors. The climb to Saint-Nizier-du-Moucherote "may serve as a springboard for attackers for a bonus at the top" detailed Christian Prudhomme, then, as in 2004, the peloton will settle at the foot of the ski area.
It is indeed a appointment almost usual for the Vercors station since Villard-de-Lans has already been the city of arrival and departure of the Grand Loop twelve times, six times each. The last finish, in 2004, saw the victory of Lance Armstrong, since cleared for doping. The finish in Villard-de-Lans culminates at 1023 meters above sea level, and, passing through the 2000 Coast, ends with an ascent of 2.5 km to 6.8%.
On the other hand, it's a great first for the Tour-du-Pin, who had never seen the riders leave or arrive on his tar.
