Videos published by Chinese media show a multi-meter high bridge crumbling and crushing vehicles below. Other images show two fully compressed sedans, with only the hood or headlights still emerging from a huge block of gray concrete. On one of the videos, we see a motor tricycle that brakes in disaster just before hitting the collapsed bridge. The driver of the tricycle gets out of his accident vehicle while running.

According to a preliminary investigation, a truck loaded too heavily, which illegally borrowed the bridge, would have caused its collapse, as reported by the mayor of Wuxi on social networks.
