The author of the attack, which killed two people on Wednesday, filmed himself during his act, in what appears to have been an imitation of the operating mode of the Christchurch bombing.
The perpetrator of the attack on a synagogue and a Turkish restaurant in the city of Halle (Lower Saxony), which killed at least two people on 9 October, filmed and broadcast the attack live on the Internet. could see The world, who was able to view some of the images. The latter seem to have been filmed using a phone attached to his helmet.
The video, which appears to have been initially broadcast on Twitch, a platform specializing in the live broadcast of video games, is no longer available on this site. But excerpts and copies of the video circulate on sites like Kohlchan, forum with the moderation apparently nonexistent frequented by sympathizers of far right German-speaking.
An important arsenal of small arms
The images illuminate the course of the attack, and confirm that it was indeed the synagogue of the city of Halle, in which several tens of faithful were gathered for the ceremonies of Yom Kippur, which was aimed. In the video, we see the shooter get out of his vehicle, try unsuccessfully to open the doors of the place of worship, before shooting a passerby. The rest of the document shows him entering a nearby kebab and repeatedly firing at a man.
The video also shows that the shooter had in his vehicle a large arsenal of small arms. In addition to at least two hand-crafted firearms, the car used during the attack contained a large amount of explosives – molotov cocktail and "grenades" surrounded by plastic. These elements seem to show a long preparation, but the video also reveals the feverishness of the shooter, who repeatedly drops weapons or ammunition, and swears regularly.
The modus operandi The shooter seems to have been largely modeled after the attack in Christchurch, New Zealand, during which a far-right terrorist filmed and broadcast live an attack on several mosques that killed more than 50 people.
Far Right Forums
The video also contains a short "manifesto", in which the shooter explains, in an approximate English, his motivations. He presents himself as "anon" – a term that refers to the users of anonymous forums prized by the extreme right. He explains that he wants to attack "Jews, source of all problems", and proclaims her hatred of feminism, "Source of birth decline, who is the scapegoat of mass immigration".
A common rhetoric on forums like 8chan, but also on its local declination in Germany, Kohlchan (channel cabbage). Heir to a previous forum, Krautchan, closed last year, this site hosts several sub-forums that host many antisemitic content, misogynistic, or inciting hatred against Muslims and immigrants. On Kohlchan, many users said, October 9, their "disappointment" that the author of the attack did not succeed in entering the synagogue, or even openly mocked him.
