The mother and grandmother of a student at Agde Elementary School who were pursued after the assault of a teacher

The two women, the mother and the grandmother of a student who assaulted a teacher of the primary school of Agde on September 30th, were presented to the parquet of Béziers this Tuesday October 8th.They will be judged on March 4th; the mother, for violence; the grandmother, for death threats against a person in charge of a public service mission.

The case has been widely publicized. The teacher had filmed this altercation in the office of the director of the school and the video was broadcast by our colleagues Midi-Libre.

What happened ?

The 6-year-old was involved in a fight that the teacher ended earlier in the day. On Monday night, the two women reportedly ran out of excesses to the school principal, accusing the teacher of mistreating their son and grandson.The director had the teacher come, but the interview quickly turned to aggression, verbal and physical.

Indeed, on this video, we discover the two women, the mother and the grandmother as well as the child in the office of the director, in front of them, filming, the teacher.

We see first, the mother of the child put a slap to the teacher before leaving in the hallway. Then, it is the turn of the grandmother to attack the teacher by threatening her with death.

Judicial review with prohibition to report to school

These two women had been placed in police custody at the Agde police station on 7 October. After prolonging their custody, they were placed under judicial control, with no access to school and to contact the teacher.

They will appear in court on March 4, 2020:

For the mother: violence resulting in no total incapacity for work on a person in charge of a public service mission, in this case a teacher acting in the performance of her duties;
For the grandmother: death threats against a person in charge of a public service mission;

They risk 3 years of prison and 45,000 euros of fine

Both women risk up to three years imprisonment and 45,000 euros fine.

In his statement, the Prosecutor of Beziers, Raphael Balland, added that the two women regretted their gesture.

Both during their detention in police custody and before the public prosecutor, the two women acknowledged the facts alleged against them, expressing strong regret for their behavior and repeating their desire to apologize to the complainant.
