The operator began experimenting in the 26 GHz band a few days ago. The latter has been authorized to carry out four separate projects, which Clubic details.
Bouygues Telecom is part of the operators, communities or projects selected to carry out 5G experiments in the 26 GHz millimeter band, the complete list of which was made public by the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Communications and Posts (Arcep) on 7 October. The operator has inherited four projects that will allow it to test different uses enabled by fifth-generation wireless technology.
Increase the flows in public places
Direction Bordeaux Metropole, in Gironde (33), for the first of the four experiments carried out by Bouygues Telecom. Here, the goal is to enhance the public lighting networks with the aim of deploying new infrastructures. The 5G will allow ultra-high speed connectivity in high density spaces, which will be tested in particular at the French Tech Bordeaux or the Bank of the Territories.
Much further east now, take the road to the Rhone and meet us at Lyon Part-Dieu station (69). In collaboration with SNCF, Bouygues Telecom will carry out experiments with the general public, pushing debits for the use of augmented reality applications or videochat in mixed reality; but also uses for agents and the SNCF information system, such as the puncture of large quantities of technical data from the trains to the quay.
A 5G designed to help the industrial world take a course
In Saint-Priest (69), Bouygues Telecom will conduct its experiments on the industrial area, for BtoB properties, in addition to optical fiber. The idea here is to offer VSEs and SMEs a gain in connectivity to push them on the path of digitalization and the emergence of IoT broadband in the industrial world.
Finally, the operator will deploy an experimental network (inside and outside) within the Velizy-Villacoublay business area (78) and Meudon (92). Once installed, the experimental platform will be able to accommodate third parties, not necessarily telecom specialists, so that they can test or offer their services. The SmartX 5G incubator of the Bouygues group should also be honored.
