TERAMO – Roberto Fagnano didn't make it. His heart stopped again, and this time permanently, at 10.15 am, when death was ascertained. The former general manager of the Asl and today general director of the regional health agency, 56, was hit by a massive heart attack this morning around 8:15 and attempts to revive him by 118 operators were useless.
The rescue operations were triggered when one of his health care workers telephoned him to arrange an appointment to attend a conference at the Mazzini hospital: on the telephone it was the health director himself who reported an illness whose nature he did not know how to investigate . It was enough, however, to trigger the rescue: Fagnano was found on the ground, between corridor and kitchen and the resuscitation was long and complex, even if in the end the 118 doctors managed to recover the rhythm. The urgent transfer to the hemodynamics department served to lengthen hope for another hour and a half, with the application of a pacemaker, but the sorzas were wiped out around 10, when the heart stopped again and for always, taking away from the community a capable, helpful and much appreciated manager.
This was also confirmed by the mayor of Teramo, Gianguido D'Alberto, speaking at the impromptu press conference in Mazzini's cardiology service, during which the deputy of Fagnano, Maurizio Di Giosia, alongside the regional councilors Nicoletta Verì and Piero Foretti, officially announced the death of the director. With Fagnano, committed directly and personally in carrying out the project of the new single provincial hospital, a true representative of the territory disappears, even before the institutions. Arriving at the General Directorate of the ASL of Teramo in 2014, he had been confirmed by the D'Alfonso junta for a second term, but by the end of September he had been called by Marsilio council to lead the Regional Agence for Health and Welfare, an appointment that had confirmed the appreciation nurtured towards it by the Abruzzese governance.

The funeral home will be set up in the convention hall of the second batch of Mazzini where the body will be exhibited from the afternoon and where a public function will be celebrated tomorrow at 9 am, officiated by Bishop Lorenzo Leuzzi. Instead, the funeral will be celebrated in Campobasso, the hometown of the lawyer. The regional council scheduled today was canceled as a sign of mourning.
