From school to transport, through offices and health: Friday 25 October general strike in all public and private sectors. The CUB – Unitary Basic Confederation associations proclaimed it; SGB - General Basic Syndicate; SI-COBAS – Intercategory Union of COBAS and USI-CIT – Italian Trade Union.
The reasons for the strike
The 24-hour general strike was proclaimed to demand an increase in salaries and pensions, the cancellation of the Jobs Act of the Fornero law, as well as for the reduction of hours and workloads. But also against the decrees 1 and 2 of Salvini, for the right to health, to school, to political mobility and to safety at work, against internal and external wars, as well as against military expenses, to abolish wage and social inequalities, economic, gender and those towards immigrants, for the regularization of all immigrants, Ius soli, no rejections, CPR closure.
Times
Buses, trains, planes and highway workers therefore stop, but also the schools where teachers, administrative staff and ATA staff will strike: from the nests to the high school the service will not be guaranteed. Strike also in universities and hospitals.
These are the scheduled stop times published on the ministry website. Air transport: strike from 00.01 to 24.00 on 25 October 2019; Rail transport: strike from 21.00 on 24 October 2019 to 21.00 on 25 October 2019; Tpl and maritime: full day strike on Friday 25 October 2019; Motorways: strike from 22.00 on 24 October 2019 to 22.00 on 25 October 2019. As always, the range of guarantees is foreseen, from 5.30 to 8.30 and from 17.30 until 20.
Milan
In Milan Atm announced in a note that the agitation of the traveling personnel and of the surface operation scheduled from 8.45 to 15 and from 18 to the end of the service while that of the traveling personnel and of operating the subway from 18 to the end of the service .
Rome
In Rome, Friday is even darker: in the capital, in addition to the general strike, there will also be that of the employees of the subsidiaries, proclaimed by Cgil, Cisl and Uil. The arms of Atac, Ama, Roma Metropolitane, Roma Multiservizi will cross their arms. At risk therefore transport, waste collection and schools, but also canteens, cleaning, municipal pharmacies.
