Roberto Fagnano dies of a heart attack. He was director of Health in Abruzzo

His heart stopped beating this morning, it seems around 9:30 am. Shortly before Roberto Fagnano had been hit by a heart attack that did not give him a chance. At that moment he was at his home in Teramo, the city where he had worked for a few years: in 2014 the manager from Molise had been appointed head of the ASL in Teramo, then in August the council led by Marco Marsilio had appointed him general director of Health of the Abruzzo Region.

Useless attempts to revive him: the lawyer was taken by ambulance of 118 to the hospital of the city of Abruzzo but the doctors of ‘Mazzini’ have not been able to tear him from death.

Born in Campobasso on 24 March 1963, Fagnano was general manager of the Regional Health Department of the Molise Region from 2007 to 2012, during the Iorio government. He also had an experience with the Municipality of Termoli where he was general manager from 2003 to 2006.

In July 2009 he was appointed by the Health Commission in the technical group of the Regions that drafted the national health plan, while the following year he was a member of the health monitoring technical structure.

Fagnano was also teacher in the graduate school of the legal professions of the University of Molise where he taught administrative law and administrative justice.

A person at hand, kind and serious, a manager of great professional and human qualities, always smiling and with the joke ready. On the occasion of the 2018 Regionals, there was also talk of his possible candidacy for the presidency with the center-right.

The news of his death caused pain in Campobasso, where his family lived. With his city of origin, Fagnano continued to maintain a special relationship: he was often in the stands of the Selvapiana district stadium to follow the matches of Campobasso football. And he, fond of the ball, for a period had collaborated with the rossoblu company in the nineties, during the Adelmo Berardo management.

The club expressed its condolences with a message on the social networks: "We learn with sadness the news of the death of Roberto Fagnano. Roberto leaves a great void in all of us. Always close to the fate of Campobasso Calcio, he never failed to support our colors, also holding the position of partner of the company until last year. The management, the technical staff and the whole team join the family's grief on this sad day ”.

Finally, this morning – 29 October – he was recalled to the Regional Council where a minute of silence was observed.

He expressed his condolences to his wife Valeria and his daughter Giulia, the president of the Campobasso Lions Club, Aldo Reale.
