The Ministry of the Economy and Investissement Québec are preparing to extend $ 30 million to a French company that manufactures airships.

Flying Whales will announce shortly that it will land in Quebec to set up a research and development center.

To design the "zeppelin of the future", Flying Whales wants to capitalize on the expertise of the Quebec industry, its engineers and suppliers. The flying machines will be assembled in a factory in France, but their design will be partly realized in Quebec.

With its flying machine capable of carrying a load of 60 tons at 100 km / h at 3000 meters altitude, the company wants to make the transport of air cargo cheaper and more environmentally friendly. Flying Whales intends to launch its first aircraft in 2022.

Flying Whales is already financed by the Public Investment Bank of France and the Chinese aircraft manufacturer AVIC. The project will require investments estimated between 450 and 750 million.

The nature of Investissement Québec's financial assistance remains unknown for the moment.
