QUÉBEC | The Legault government will appeal a ruling that declared a law voted in 2017 unconstitutional to force the 1,100 jurists of the state to return to work.

The Liberal government of Philippe Couillard had passed a special law in February 2017 to put an end to the strike lawyers of the state had lasted for 19 weeks. Bill 127 was passed after 20 hours of parliamentary proceedings, despite opposition from members of other parties, including those from the CAQ.

According to a decision in the Superior Court last month, this law was unconstitutional since it interfered with, among other things, the right of lawyers to go on strike.

It is this judgment that the Legault government will challenge, it was learned Friday.
