Primoz Roglic assured to finish the year N.1 worldwide

Slovenian Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) is guaranteed to finish the year 2019 at the 1st place in the UCI (International Cycling Union) world rankings. There are still some minor races on the calendar, but not enough to threaten the 1st place in the world of the winner of the Vuelta.

Roglic leads with 4635.28 points. He is ahead of Frenchman Julian Alaphilippe (3.569.95 pts), Denmark's Jakob Fuglsang (3472.50), Colombian Egan Bernal (3.346.75), winner of the Tour de France, and Spaniard Alejandro Valverde (3297.00) .

Greg Van Avermaet is 6th and first Belgian with 2,947.33 points. Oliver Naesen (14th) Tim Wellens (17th) Tiesj Benoot (30e) Yves Lampaert (36e) Wout van Aert (37e) Remco Evenepoel (39e) Philippe Gilbert (41e) and Jasper Stuyven (42nd) are the other Belgians in the top 50.

Roglic, 29, won this year the United Arab Emirates Tour, the Tour de Romandie, two stages of the Giro of which he took the 3rd place, the Tour de Romandie, the Vuelta, the Tour d'Emilie and the Three Valleys varesines.

The Belgian team Deceuninck – Quick-Step is leading the team standings with 14,692.03 points, ahead of BORA – hansgrohe (14.261.86) and Jumbo – Visma (13.042.65). Lotto Soudal is 9th, Corendon-Circus 17th, Wanty-Gobert 18th, Wallonia Brussels 25th and Sport Vlaanderen-Baloise 29th.

Belgium leads the country standings with 13,508.09 points, ahead of Italy (11,755.48) and the Netherlands (11,303.14).
