The party of Matteo Renzi "has difficulty taking off". Italy Viva, in fact, according to a survey by Nando Pagnoncelli for the Corriere della Sera, oscillates between the 4 and 5 percent (4.8 in the latest Ipsos survey) "and for 3 out of 4 Italians (74 percent) will fail to garner much support, remaining a marginal party in Italian politics". And yet, it is a widely held opinion that Renzi can represent a thorn in the side of the Conte government which is registering a gradual increase in consensus ".

In essence, "almost two out of three (63 percent) they think that the leader of Italy may live soon abandon executive support for a political calculation. Of the opposite opinion, 12% of Italians believe that Renzi constitutes a stimulus for the government and can contribute with innovative ideas to its action ".

Also read: "This time he exaggerated". The situation has precipitated: Conte, an extreme scenario

Certainly Renzi is struggling to make his party grow. And this is due to three factors, explains the pollster: "First of all, Renzi's approval is very low (only 12 percent expressed a positive opinion on him).
Secondly, it is not yet clear in the eyes of the voters what the former prime minister's political proposal is, that is, what is the news and the idea of the country. Finally, the communication style used by Renzi in the political debate may appear distant from that of the moderate electorate to which Italia viva intends to address ".
