Be careful, a fine can now hide another. The SNCF is about to be stolen its legendary slogan … That will make jump the opponents of radars of all kinds, these compulsive flashers of the driving speed. The road safety authorities have indeed come to find a new mission: systematically monitor the situation of those who have just committed an offense and check in particular if it is insured. That is why a new file has just been created, that of the insured vehicles (FVA), now operational and accessible to the police.
The state hopes to reduce the number of uninsured drivers in France, which authorities estimate at 700,000. It is the law of 18 November 2016 that created this file of insured vehicles (FVA). In 5% of fatal accidents and 4% of personal injuries, one of the vehicles is not insured.
The 2018 roadside insurance barometer, as presented by the Guarantee Fund, which compensates the victims of uninsured or unidentified perpetrators, to whom we have had access, draws a damning finding. 109 dead last year and more than 9,500 injured, an increase of 21% since 2013. In 2018, the Fund has supported more than 36,000 victims to whom the organization has paid € 153 million.
