New alert, tomorrow schools closed in various municipalities

ALESSANDRIA – UPDATES: An intense cyclonic flow from the south at high altitude and from the southeast in the low layers brings humid air towards the western alpine arc. During the night, intense rainfall, first in the western and south-western areas of Turin and Cuneo, then extending eastward in the early hours of tomorrow, Thursday, affecting Canavese, Biellese, Verbano and Alto Vercellese and Novarese. Even the areas already affected by rainfall in recent days, including between Asti and Alexandrian, will be affected Thursday by heavy rainfall and storms. An attenuation of the phenomena is expected for Thursday evening.

Floods, landslides and rising levels of the watercourses of the secondary network are expected and on Thursday also the main watercourses in the areas most affected by the rains will be raised. In the morning, in particular, Dora Riparia, Stura di Lanzo and Orco will respond, together with Toce, Sesia and the Po in the sections of Carignano, San Sebastiano, Crescentino and Valenza, which will reach moderate criticality.

Meanwhile, we continue to work towards a return to normality. The Province is proceeding to the reopening of the seven roads still closed, while the problem of the collapse of the bridge remains serious Capriata d’Orba, along the SP155. The Military Engineers has made available a Bailey bridge, to obviate the interruption of the road network and in the afternoon there will be an inspection to verify the feasibility of the assembly. TO Bozzolino, a fraction of Castelletto d’Orba, a disaster is likely to leave around thirty people, including a disabled person, and an attempt is being made to find a solution to this situation. All electrical utilities have been restored. In all the municipalities hit by the bad weather, the civil protection system volunteers are working to clean up roads, houses and banks.

The garrisons of the Carabinieri and Fire Brigade stations in the Apennine and hilly areas have been strengthened.

From the Prefecture comes the invitation to avoid going on trips to the areas affected by the landslides and floods of these regions except for an urgent need, starting from the early hours of this night.
