The last edition of 2018 he awarded Vinales, who started off badly but quickly. Yamaha returned to success after 25 GPs, then Iannone with Suzuki in front of the two official Ducati of Dovi and Bautista (replacing injured Lorenzo). The incident on the sixth lap was sensational: the braking of the first corner Zarco tampona Marquez at 330 times, perhaps the effect of the trail: great fear, but fortunately the consequences are light. Rossi, in a long second, goes into crisis with the rear tire and moves back to sixth place, while Morbidelli is eighth and Petrucci only twelfth, after an exit in the early laps and the comeback.

Vthenales has always been on the podium since 2016 (and won in Moto2 in 2014). Two years ago the race was superspectacular: Marquez, after the 24th fall of the year in FP3, started from pole and gained the sixth victory of 2017. Behind him duels and doors, with Zarco (fast lap and quarter of a breath ) exaggerated, combative Rossi, Vinales rediscovered. Malissimo went for Ducati, with Dovi thirteenth at the worst test of the year, Lorenzo fifteenth, Petrucci sunk just seven days before the podium at Motegi.

Marc here alternates peremptory successes with sensational mistakes: in 2016 he gave Crutchlow the success with Cecchinello's Honda (which was catching up): bad mistake during braking and relative fall. Rain in practice and cold on Sunday, Rossi preceded Vinales (on Suzuki, the fastest in the final) with a splendid race, and Dovizioso, fourth more detached, did well. Lorenzo, in full crisis, only closed sixth at 20 ".

Marquez absolute protagonist also in 2015. That was a controversial race: of course Marc had more than all of them, and he proved it with the fastest lap in the final round, when he recovered seven tenths to Lorenzo and broke it off by twenty meters. Yet the hondista remained to fight for the whole race with Rossi and Iannone. Did he want to slow down the Doctor? If it had been so, not even Rossi noticed it there and then, so much so that after the great battle he congratulated the winner. Note that the Ducati was very fast (344 times for Iannone), yet Only the thirteenth closed and dejected.

Finally 2014. Five years ago another glaring mistake of Marquez: he started from pole, he had four seconds ahead of all, he fell at 10 to ten laps. The victory went to Rossi who started from the third row, recovered quickly, fought for a long time with Lorenzo and pulled him off. Defective rubber for Jorge? Crutchlow also passed the Mallorcan, but then fell on the last lap. Third Smith and fourth Give you 14 seconds. For Valentino, who hadn't won here since 2005, it was a great day.

Let's move on to the Moto2, where the Italians have not won for five years (last De Angelis, but fired San Marino, Simoncelli in 250 in 2009). Last year Pasini had the pole but he fell, like Baldassarri (who was second on lap 23). Good Marini, fifth, bad Bagnaia only 12th (but with 36 points ahead in the championship). The victory went for 6 cents to Binder on Mir, third Vierge and good fifth Marini. KTM had also won the previous edition, with Oliveira: first victory for a Portuguese driver. It was a one-two, according to closed Binder (who twelve months earlier had won the Moto3), while Franco Morbidelli, with third place, broke Luthi (-29), placed only tenth.

2016, and here is precisely Luthi in front of Morbidelli at the photo finish, with Cortese third at 5 cents… Fallen Pasini and Rins, fourth came Baldassarri in three seconds. The same Balda that twelve months earlier, eighteen, had climbed onto the podium for the first time in his career after a great race: in 2015 Rins won ahead of Lowes and then Balda. Instead in 2014 Vinales, who was a rookie, took the third win of the season here, ahead of Luthi and the defending champion Rabat.

Finally the Moto3. Twelve months ago, at the second race of his life, Celestino Vietti (who replaced Bulega) climbed onto the third step of the podium. What a race! Arenas won, according to "Diggia", five pilots in a tenth of a second; Bastianini, eighth, classified at 235 thousandths … But too many falls and misconduct: Bezzecchi also paid the price, mowed by Rodrigo.

The races of the minimum displacement have always been agitated, at Phillip Island. In 2017 the race stopped due to rain on lap 15: fell "Diggia" which was in the leading group, won Mir who in just two years passed from the world debut to the title. The 2016 edition was also interrupted with many flights: in the final ten rounds Binder had the better of Locatelli and Canet; and the 2015 race won by Oliveira was also decimated by the accidents, while the race of the previous year cost Fenati the podium, knocked down by Vazquez. In 2014, six drivers in two tenths under the checkered flag, and victory at Miller over young Marquez and Rins. The whole podium in 32 thousandths of a second!
