Morocco wants to develop golf tourism

"More sun, more Golf, more Emotions ", this is the signature of the promotional campaign of the Moroccan National Office of Tourism. To properly establish this strategy, the ONMT, the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation and the International Association of Golf Tour Operators – IAGTO signed a partnership agreement on Thursday, October 17th to develop golf tourism in Morocco.

This memorandum of understanding aims to ensure in the short term the increase in the number of tourists and golf-related tourist receipts, the creation of several jobs in the golf trades, capitalizing on the experience available IAGTO and the development of golf courses in Morocco, in perfect harmony with the environment and the sustainable development of the country, indicates the Offce.

In concrete terms, this partnership will ensure a sustainable growth in the number of golfers tourists, who will be able to support the evolution of the number of golf courses in Morocco in different clusters and to appeal to new markets issuing tourists golfers.

"The golf experience in Morocco is unique. Our goal today is to highlight the strengths of our golf courses and those of our destinations in target markets and new markets by improving communication and managing distribution with a very innovative approach.", Says Adel El Fakir, Director General of the ONMT.

The ONMT thus undertakes to set up a communication device for the promotion of the national golf product.

IAGTO is committed to providing all its expertise to support the distribution and marketing of the Moroccan golf product, particularly through the coordination of fam trips and workshops, the integration of the brand "Golf In Morocco" and the most mature clusters brands in the online and offline communication of international golf operators, or the expansion of the network of tour operators affiliated to IAGTO marketing the Moroccan golf product.

This partnership will take effect from April 2020 to March 31, 2023, for a duration of 3 years.

For Reminder, IAGTO is the International Association of Golf Tour Operators.

Founded in 1997, IAGTO is present in 96 countries and has more than 2,000 tour operators, clubs, hotels, golf courses, receptive operators, airlines, tourist offices …, including 529 tour operators specializing in golf. It is estimated that IAGTO operators control more than 85% of the golf vacation packages sold worldwide and generate a turnover of more than 1 billion euros per year.
