AGGRESSION – Five people were stabbed Friday (October 11th) in front of a shopping center in Manchester, in the north of England. A man was arrested. The anti-terrorist police have been seized.
Given "the location of the incident and its nature," says the Manchester police in a statement, it is "the officers of the anti-terrorist police (who) carry out the investigations". The suspect was taken into custody. Investigators, however, remain "open" to other avenues, police said.
The assailant hit "randomly"
The PA press agency was able to call two people to witness the multiple aggression. One of them, who works on the scene, said he saw a "man with a knife rushing to several people". After that, the mall's security guards ordered shop staff to close shop and direct customers to the back of the shops. Another witness mentioned "just shouting outside" where he was shopping. It was another client who explained that a man had just tried to stab her, only to be unscathed by her "thick jacket". He was trying to hit people "at random," continued the second witness.
On Twitter, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he was "shocked" and sent his "thoughts" to the victims, thanking relief services and investigators.
