One of the most absurd penalty kicks comes from Germany. The stage is the Holstein-Stadion of Kiel and the match – valid for the Zweite Liga, the German 'B Series' – is the one between the hosts and the Bochum. On a shot by Silvere Ganvoula that would end abruptly out, the reserve of the guests, Michael Eberwein (busy at that moment to warm up with the other companions), stops the ball inside the penalty area before I completely cross the goal line . No one notices, except the referees at the Var. After a few seconds, they call the race director to go and see the images on the monitor. After consulting the screen, the referee decides to declare the 11-meter shot. A correct decision: the rule foresees the assignment of the penalty (or the direct free kick) in the case in which a player between the reserves interferes in the game. Despite the sensational episode, the hosts won the match 2-1.
