FIFA President Gianni Infantino was uncompromising on Thursday in the face of stadium racism, calling for a total ban on xenophobic stadium supporters three days after incidents in the Bulgaria-England match.

"If racist acts target footballers, we must stop the match. We can not let racist people win. Football must continue and we must punish these people, "he told a press conference in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The Italian assured that it is now easy to identify the perpetrators of such acts, thanks to the cameras in the stadium. "They have to be arrested, expelled from the stadiums, no longer allowed to enter, and legal proceedings must be launched against them," the FIFA boss said.

The Euro-2020 qualifier on Monday between Bulgaria and England in Sofia was halted twice after racist remarks against black players from the Three Lions team.

Mr. Infantino condemned these incidents on Tuesday, denouncing a "disease that seems to be worsening in some parts of the world" and prioritizing "the education of our young people, our children as well as those who are a bit more aged "to combat racism.
