Coimpo massacre 5 years later, here is the first sentence: six sentences and two acquittals

A damn toxic cloud, during the wintering and cleaning of a cistern, killed Nicolò Bellato, 28, of Adria, Marco Berti, 47 years old, from Rovigo, Paolo Valesella, 53, of Adria, e Giuseppe Baldan, 48, of Campolongo Maggiore, truck driver for an external company.

The Public Prosecutor Sabrina Duò had asked for sentences for half a century (READ THE ARTICLE). The demands of the public prosecution were of multiple negligent homicide, supported by numerous technical appraisals, eyewitness and video testimonials on what happened that damn morning.

For the Coimpo company the condemnation requests made by the Public Prosecution were of 10 years in prison for Mauro Luise, 57 years of Adria, residing in Romania, and for Gianni Pagnin, 67 years, of Noventa Padovana. For Glenda Luise, 27, of Adria, the request was of 7 years of prison as per Alessia Paganin, 42 years old of Noventa Padovana, 6 years and 3 months for Mario Crepaldi, 63 years, of Adria, Coimpo employee.

On the Agribiofert front the request for the technical director Michele Fiore, 42, of Ferrara, was of 7 years, 6 years for Rossano Stocco, 57, of Villadose, director of Agribiofert, while for the 60 year old Alberto Albertini, the employer of the dead hauler, the request was of 1 year and a half.

Six sentences and two acquittals. They leave the scene Mario Crepaldi (Coimpo employee) and Alberto Albertini (the employer of Giuseppe Baldan) because the fact is not a crime.

Condemned instead Mauro Luise at 6 years and 6 months of imprisonment e 8 months of arrest; Gianni Pagnin 7 years, 8 months and 15 days of imprisonment and 8 months of arrest; Rossano Stocco at 3 years, 4 months and 20 days of imprisonment and 4 months and 10 days of arrest; Alessia Pagnin and Glenda Luise at 3 years, 9 months and 20 days of imprisonment and 20 days of arrest; Michele Fiore at 3 years and 9 months in prison and 20 days of imprisonment. Full compensation immediately established by the judge, even in the order of over 400 thousand euros in favor of the relatives of the victims.

The defendants' defense has already announced an appeal to the Appeal.

The mayor of Adria is also in the courtroom during the reading of the sentence Omar Barbierato and the families of the four victims. At the end of the reading of the device there was no reaction between the public, but only a long interminable silence.
