About 200 organizations express their concern over the political project of Jan Jambon's Flemish Regional Government (N-VA) in an open letter published in De Morgen on Monday.
They fear that budget cuts will silence them. "The disregard of civil society brings unfavorable decisions to the general interest," says Ann Vermorgen of the Christian union. "The government's policy Ham I is stuck on ideas that have had their day," says the Hart boven Hard statement, which 200 people and organizations have countersigned.
The new government is weakening associations defending minorities, restricting social partners, carrying out charges against NGOs and citizens who defend newcomers, the statement further decries.
The letter reads as a warning to Jan Jambon, Flemish minister president. It is preferable that the political leaders privilege the dialogue with the civil society, insist the signatories ..
The declaration will not remain a dead letter, warns the socialist union. Actions are envisaged as soon as the political notes of the ministers will make it possible to evaluate the concrete impact of the economy measures.
