Cancer cop flies to New York to run the Marathon

He is leaving for New York where he will participate in the famous Marathon on Sunday 3 November, and the Sport Councilor Roberto Fagnani wanted to meet him in the municipal residence to wish him good luck. He is Cristian Galli, agent of the local Police of Ravenna, and will be one of the three cancer patients that the Romagna Cancer Institute will bring to the Big Apple for a project related to the practice of sports as a physical and psychological support in the field of cancer therapy . Galli, which will start Thursday October 31st for his first marathon, will return with his testimony to the "Winners 4 the Cure" congress that will be held on November 7th at the Pala de Andre, a new event dedicated to scientific advances in the field of oncology with the practical demonstration of the excellent results obtained by cancer patients who have ventured into sports activities. The appointment is promoted by the Department of Sport, Athletics Ravenna, IOR and in collaboration with the Ravenna Marathon, the city of art in which Galli will take part.

Cristian Galli is a 47-year-old born in Rimini but resident for 15 years in the city of mosaics, where he works at the local police. Married and with two children aged 13 and 10, he discovered he suffered from lung cancer three and a half years ago. "I realized I suffered from right eye problems – he explains – but I never imagined that this visual field anomaly would turn out to be a metastasis. I married an experimental protocol of molecular target therapy at the IRST of Meldola: I have to take tablets every day and check myself once a month, after an initial period in which the tumor showed signs of regression, now it seems to have stopped: just enough to take part in this wonderful project. , although he has always been a sportsman, I had ceased my activity: but since I am better I have slowly started to move, and I have noticed that even the side effects of the therapies are less heavy.I am very happy and excited to be able to experience the sensations of the New York Marathon: I approached running recently, following the example of Leonardo Cenci, but I never did 42 kilometers in my life. however quiet because we have a trainer who follows us: that day I will not watch the chronometer but I will do my race to be able to cross the finish line and show myself and others to be able to do it.
