"Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi died like a coward, like a dog, running and crying." This was announced by US President Donald Trump during a press conference, thus confirming the advances of the American press. "After the tests, we had a positive confirmation of the identification: it was him." A "depraved and violent man", who found a "violent death". "He spent the last moments of his terrified life," specified Trump: he had holed up in a tunnel, "a dead end: that's where he died like a coward, crying and screaming like a dog". When he realized he had no more hope, "he blew himself up by blowing up three of his children," the US president said, confirming that two of his wives also died in the blitz. Eleven children were found and taken away from the compound in which the terror leader was hiding.

"We followed the raid live, it was like watching a movie. This is thanks to our technology, "added Trump. In the blitz "many people have died" – he said – "but among our troops there was no victim, only one dog was injured".

"Now the world is a safer place," Trump said. "Under my direction we have destroyed his Caliphate". But the ISIS is not finished – the president warned: "We already know the successors of Al Baghdadi, they are already in our systems. We will continue to prosecute terrorists ".

The blitz was carried out after midnight in the village of Barisha, in the province of Idlib, in the North-West of Syria, a few kilometers from the Turkish border. Place where all the jihadist militias remained active in the region, ISIS and groups linked to Al Qaeda.

The American forces – the president said – had identified the position of Baghdadi for some months. "We checked, verified. He always moved, taking cash with him, "he added. "We had to postpone the raid several times but yesterday we had confirmation of its presence in the compound yesterday."

Turkey was aware of the operation – Trump reported – but it was "especially the Kurds" who provided Americans with "useful information".

"We landed with eight helicopters and did not enter the main entrance on arrival because they knew there was an explosive," said Trump, adding that the landing and re-starting in the helicopter were the most dangerous moments of the operation. "In the one-hour and 10-minute flight we were flying over a dangerous area," he said, and then he did not want to respond to those who asked him where the helicopter landed on his return, merely saying that he had returned to a friendly country.
